“Real” copies of “Ritual Words and Narrative Worlds in the Book of Leviticus,” at last
Jun 20th, 2009 by Bryan
Continuum finally sent me a box of author’s copies of my book, Ritual Words and Narrative Worlds in the Book of Leviticus. Despite all of my rhetoric about electronic publishing, it’s nice to see something tangible.
Also, I’m taking Chris Brady’s advice: “Once something has gone to press, never read it again.”

Cool, so you got an extra for me?
Just kidding.
Congratulations!
How far is the good feeling from a paper copy nostalgia, and how far from the thought of all the academic brownie points?
I have to admit for me it’s almost completely the latter, though my family and friends are impressed by the book-as-object. What I really I like is the idea of my book being in a library where an enterprising grad student might come across it and find some use for it. However, that would be accomplished more easily with a robust system of electronic distribution.
